Trans Justice at CDT

Trans Jews Belong Here!

Congregation Dorshei Tzedek welcomes, supports, and advocates for trans/nonbinary/gender-nonconforming adults and children.

We reaffirm the commitment made by the Reconstructionist movement in 2017 to "the full inclusion, acceptance, appreciation, celebration and welcome of people of all gender identities in Jewish life and in society at large." We share the movement's condemnation of "all instances of bias, discrimination, violence, hatred, and intimidation against transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming individuals."

The Trans Justice group is a branch of CDT's Tikkun Olam organization that builds on CDT's commitment to welcoming transgender people and works for justice for transgender people in our CDT community and in the world at large. The Trans Justice group welcomes any congregant who would like to participate in Tikkun Olam and advocacy efforts on behalf of transgender people. Our work includes advocacy regarding justice and fair treatment for transgender and nonbinary people, including organizing with other Jewish and interfaith organizations, providing accompaniment support to transgender people moving to Massachusetts, and creating and providing resources for the CDT community. To join our listserv, and to receive announcements about our monthly meetings (the last Thursday of the month from 7-8 on Zoom), please email: cdt-trans-justice+subscribe@dorsheitzedek.groups.io.

Interested CDT members can also request to join the GIaNTs
(Gender Independent + Nonbinary + Trans) listserv, which is for any congregant who identifies within the GIaNTs umbrella or who is the caretaker/parent of a GIaNT. This listserv is used to share resources, events, and to circulate info about CDT GIaNTs and Caretakers of GIaNTs meet ups. To join, please email: cdt-giants+subscribe@dorsheitzedek.groups.io.
