The Life of an Israeli Peace and Partnership Activist Pre- and Post-October 7 with R' Haviva Ner-David
Sunday, December 7, 2025 • 17 Kislev 5786
2:30 PM - 3:45 PMZoom
All are invited to this virtual program with Rabbi Haviva Ner-David, a leader with Palestinian Israeli partners in the grassroots movement Standing Together. She will speak about life as a Jewish Israeli activist for peace, equality, and justice before and after October 7. Rabbi Ner-David will explore what comes next, now that the hostages are back and the war is supposed to be coming to an end. Rabbi Haviva will share her experiences, thoughts, hopes, and engage us in conversation.
Haviva Ner-David is a rabbi, writer, and activist. She is the founding rabbi of Shmaya: A Mikveh for Mind, Body, and Soul – the only mikveh in Israel open to all to immerse as they choose – where she officiates and creates personalized and more traditional mikveh ceremonies. Rabbi Haviva is the author of three spiritual journey memoirs, two novels, and the only children's book on mikveh. She is working on a fourth memoir, about her experiences of these past two years of war. She is an activist for peace, equality, and justice in Israel-Palestine, especially through her involvement with Standing Together. She is also active in Rabbis for Human Rights – a rabbinic voice for human rights – and Spirit of the Galilee – an interfaith group of spiritual leaders in the Galilee. Rabbi Haviva and her spouse Jacob are the parents of seven children and live in Kibbutz Hannaton in the Galilee. She lives with FSHD muscular dystrophy, which has been her biggest life challenge and teacher.

DecDecember 16 , 2025GBIO House Meeting
Tuesday, Dec 16th 7:00p to 8:00p
Join us at the home of a CDT member for an intentional, focused, small-group conversation, known as a House Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for members of the CDT community to share their experiences with an issue or pressure that you or your community are facing. With so much that is hard in the world these days, our hope is that this is a place to safely air your lived experience or concerns. The session will be led by a member of CDT's Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) team. Through House Meetings, we get to know each other deeply, support one another, and may even lay the groundwork for GBIO's next major campaign. Come as you are! No preparation required, and no prior experience necessary. -

DecDecember 18 , 2025Festival of Daughters
Thursday, Dec 18th 6:00p to 7:00p
On the Shabbat of Channukah, Jewish communities that trace their roots back to the Middle East and North Africa will celebrate the Festival of the Daughters, commemorating the Channukah heroine Judith. Join Alyx Bernstein after Dorshei Lights at 6pm on Thursday, December 18th to meet this extraordinary woman who defended the Jewish people in a time of oppression. We'll explore how the story of Judith, first written by Jews in the first century BCE, has emerged and reemerged as a story of resistance, Jewish strength, and powerful womanhood over the centuries, and how this lesser-known heroine's legacy shapes our Channukah celebrations today. -
