Shabbat Morning Services
Shabbat Morning Services
Our weekly, hybrid Shabbat morning services are highly participatory and blend traditional davvening (prayer) with lively singing, English readings, and discussions of the weekly Torah portion. Rabbi Toba Spitzer accompanies much of the service on guitar, and congregation members share in every aspect of leading the services. Once a month, services are led by CDT members.
Summer Service Schedule
During July and August, our schedule of Shabbat morning service is irregular, both due to Rabbi Toba being away for the entire month of July and the high temperatures in our sanctuary during heat waves.
Summer Shabbat services:
- July 19: Member-led Musical Shabbat Morning and Picnic Lunch
- August 9: Shabbat Morning Services and Bat Mitzvah of Evelyn Albenberg
- August 16: Shabbat Morning Services
- August 30: Zoom-only Labor Day Shabbat Morning Services
- There are no Shabbat morning services on July 5, July 12, July 26, August 2, or August 23.
Regular weekly services resume on September 6. We look forward to welcoming you at any or all of these services!
Kol Haneshama (Reconstructionist siddur)
We use the Reconstructionist siddur (prayerbook) Kol Haneshama, which features gender-neutral English translations, commentary and interpretations to make the traditional prayers more easily accessible, as well as supplementary readings by a wide variety of rabbis, writers, and others. Transliteration is available for communal singing.
