Targeted Giving
Targeted Giving
We want to encourage our members, as well as their friends and family, to consider supporting our community’s activities as a way of acknowledging important lifecycle events and milestones, in memory or in honor of loved ones, or simply as a yearly tzedakah contribution. The following are special funds to which contributions can be directed:
The General Fund supports basic operations & expenses.
The Religious School Fund supports children’s education scholarships and general expenses.
The Camp Havaya Fund provides scholarships for our members who want to send their children to experience the wonders of Camp Havaya, the only Reconstructionist camp in the US.
The Jill Volk Teacher Development Fund was created in memory of one of the founders of our school and one of its first teachers. It provides scholarships for teachers in the Dorshei Tzedek religious school to receive professional development and training. This fund will allow Jill’s love of Judaism and Jewish learning to continue to enrich our community.
The Torah Fund supports the for repair and upkeep of our Sifrei Torah; as well as the purchase other ritual objects as needed.
The Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund is for tzedakah, scholarships, emergencies, books, etc., is used by the Senior Rabbi only, and checks should be made out specifically to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, and not to Congregation Dorshei Tzedek.
Donations can be mailed directly to:
Congregation Dorshei Tzedek
60 Highland Street
West Newton, MA 02465
Please include a note with the names of the donors, and the dedication, if any, as you wish them to be printed in the newsletter.
