Sindyanna
Sindyanna
Sindyanna is a women-led fair trade organization active in the Arab-Palestinian Community in Israel that works to market environmentally sustainable, fair trade olive oil and other products. Sindyanna symbolizes a unique cooperation between Arabs and Jews, striving to strengthen the economy of the Arab-Palestinian population, both in Israel and in the Occupied Territories. Sindyanna is not only a means of helping farmers and growers from the South, but also a way of showing that a solution to the Middle East conflict starts at opening real economic opportunities.
Dorshei Tzedek has a partnership with Sindyanna in which CDT members have the opportunity to make regular purchases of Sindyanna’s olive oil. In the summer of 2016 during a CDT trip to Israel, the delegation visited Sindyanna’s visitor center and got a first hand view of their work.
Bottles (750 ml) of Sindyanna’s award winning oil are available for $20 or 6 bottles for $108. It is certified organic, fair trade and Kosher for Passover (and delicious). Olives for this oil are jointly grown by Arabs and Jews in a Sindyanna Grove in Wadi Ari, Israel. The oil is a blend of Barne’a and Coratina cultivars.
