Purim! Photo banner of a CDT spiel, featuring children in facepaint, a woman dressed in a rainbow flag, and a Donald Trump impersonator.

Saturday evening, March 23, we celebrate Queen Esther and Mordechai’s victory over the evil Haman, antisemitic advisor to the King. (The rabbis say that after the Messiah comes, the only holiday left to celebrate will be Purim!) On Purim we celebrate with costumes, food and drink, sending each other delicious treats, the Megillah reading, caring for the needy, and a little dancing. Plus, of course, the spiel!

Purim Party & Spiel!

Saturday, March 23, 7:00-9:00 pm
Cabot Elementary School (229 Cabot St, Newton — enter the building through the parking lot off of Bridges Ave)

Rav Tiffany says, "It’s time to party!" Adults and kids of all ages are invited to enjoy Purim davvening with Rav Tiffany, megillah reading, the Purim spiel, and dancing - don't miss it! Tell your friends! Due to A/V limitations, this event will be in-person only this year (please note the new location, at our Religious School site, the Cabot School).

Show off your costume creativity by dressing as your silliest, most liberated self! There will be kid and adult prizes for everyone in the costume parade. Note: Those wearing appropriative costumes will be asked to change. Cultural appropriation often takes the form of dressing up as an ethnicity, race, or culture that is not your own. Not sure about your costume? Ask us!

Here is the schedule of the evening:

•  7:00 pm – Purim Davvening with Rav Tiffany
•  7:20 pm – Costume parade with prizes for kids and adults!
•  7:30 pm – Megillah reading & Purim songs (have your gragger ready!)
•  8:00 pm – Hamantaschen break and the Spiel!
•  8:30 pm – Dance the night away!!
