October 7 Commemorations

Monday, October 7, 2024 5 Tishrei 5785

12:00 PM - 9:00 PM

As we mark one year since the Hamas attacks on Israel and the ensuing devastation in Gaza, here are opportunities to gather with the greater Boston Jewish community, online with Ritualwell, and with CDT members:

A Day of Memory: Holding Each Other
Sponsored by Ritual Well
12:00-1:00 pm
Virtual — Register online here

All are invited to an hour of grieving, praying, and sharing with two beloved Ritualwell facilitators who live in Israel: Rabbi Haviva Ner-David and Rabbi Daniel Raphael Silverstein. They will each share about their experiences and perspectives from the last year and lead us in opportunities for creative expression.

Every Life, A Universe: 10/7 Memorial Gathering for Israeli and Palestinian Life
Sponsored by IfNotNow
6:00-7:30 pm
RSVP here for outdoor location

Join us in community and in grief to mark one year since the Hamas-led attack in Israel, and one year of the Israeli government’s ongoing massacres and starvation in Gaza. We will mourn all those who have been murdered – Israeli and Palestinian – in Jewish ritual and song, hear stories, and reground in our belief that our safety here and around the world is inextricably linked to freedom and a thriving future for all. Jews of all backgrounds and people of all traditions welcome. Please do not bring signs or flags. RSVP for the outdoor location here: www.innmvmt.org/Oct7Boston

I/P Peace October 7 Gathering
8:00-9:00 pm
Join on Zoom

CDT's I/P Peace group is hosting a Zoom drop-in following the IfNotNow gathering, beginning at 8:00 pm. This will be an opportunity for personal sharing as well as for music and poetry that helps us to grieve together, affirm our commitment to ending this war, and renew our hope. You are welcome to bring a poem or short reading to share.

An Evening of Remembrance and Hope

7:00-8:30 pm, Wang Theatre (270 Tremont St, Boston)
Please note: this event is sold out, but there is a wait-list
please go to the registration link to get on the wait-list. If there is a livestream option added, we will update this information.

This evening will give us the opportunity to be with one another, and to grieve as a community. The evening will feature stories from those in Israel most directly affected on or by October 7, music to heal our souls, inspiring speakers, and opportunities to mourn, honor survivors and heroes, and fill one another with strength and hope for our collective future. Tickets are non-transferable and seating is general admission/first come, first served. IDs will be required to enter the event. You must register to get a ticket; go to www.cjp.org/RemembranceandHope for more information.
