Please join us for a special Film Club potluck and hybrid discussion! We'll begin the evening with a potluck dinner at the home of Helaine & John Carroll, followed by a discussion of Where Life Begins at 7 pm, both in-person on Zoom. If you plan to attend the in-person potluck, please RSVP to filmclub@dorsheitzedek.org. Note that we will watch the film on our own before the event, not with the group.
Where Life Begins (2023, 100 min, ChaiFlicks): An ultra-orthodox Jewish family from Aix-les-Bains, France comes to a farm in Calabria, Italy for a brief stay every year to carry out a sacred mission: harvesting citrons. Here Elio, the farm owner, meets Esther, the rabbi's daughter, who is tired of the constraints imposed by her religion. Through this relationship, Esther will understand the importance of freedom and find her path, and, in the same way, Elio will find the peace he had lost for a long time.
