Boston Ujima Project Workshop
Past SessionsMonday, June 28, 2021 • 18 Tammuz 5781 - 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Wednesday, June 23, 2021 • 13 Tammuz 5781 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Please consider attending two upcoming workshops to learn how we can individually combat racial wealth inequality in Boston. Several Jewish communities around Greater Boston will be participating in a multi-congregation two-part virtual series on the Boston Ujima Project and its Ujima Fund. The Ujima Fund is a democratic investment vehicle raising capital to finance small businesses, real estate and infrastructure projects in Boston’s working-class Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.
The first workshop, "Ujima 101," will be held Wednesday, June 23 7:00-8:30pm. CDT held this workshop in December 2019, but we invite those who didn’t attend (or want a refresher) to learn about wealth inequality in Boston and how the Boston Ujima Project is addressing it.
The second meeting, “Ujima Investment Workshop,” will be held Monday, June 28 7:00-9:00pm. It will describe how the Ujima Fund works and how we can help close the wealth gap. For those wrestling with the concept of reparations, consistent with Tikkun Olam, Ujima may be a key vehicle to express these values.
For more information see the flyer HERE. Sign up for the workshops HERE. And contact CDT’s Ujima Project Steering Committee — Jonathan Rosenthal, Ora Gladstone, Mark Farber, and Alan Epstein — for more information about Ujima or the workshops.
