In this concert/story-telling program, we will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest work of women songwriters and poets in the past century in Israel. CDT member Tal Shalom-Kobi and Women in World Jazz will share stories and anecdotes about the lives of poets Leah Goldberg and Rachel, song writers Naomi Shemer, Nurit Hirsh, and many others. With new arrangements and fresh interpretations, this will be a unique music experience, which will take you on a tour through a lens of history to present day.
Women In World Jazz (WIWJ) is an award winning, international Boston-based collective of women composers and performers. The ensemble was founded in 2015 and is led by our very own Tal Shalom-Kobi, a Berklee College of Music professor and a long-time researcher/performer. Since its inception, WIWJ has been actively participating in music and educational programs in libraries, schools, universities, and festivals.
