The Non-Violent Path to Palestinian Freedom: ALI ABU AWWAD AND TAGHYEER
Tuesday, November 29, 2022 • 5 Kislev 5783
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMTemple Sinai (50 Sewall Ave, Brookline) & ZoomRabbi Toba and a group of rabbis recently spent a day with Ali Abu Awwad and the Palestinian nonviolence movement Taghyeer in one of the villages in Masafer Yatta, on the West Bank.
Now YOU have the chance to hear Ali live (or streaming). CDT is co-sponsoring, along with J Street and Temple Hillel B'nai Torah, a talk that Ali is giving via ZOOM (see the update below). Ali is a captivating speaker and will share his vision for Taghyeer (Change), a civil society movement of Palestinians organizing Palestinians based upon principles of nonviolence. If you have any questions about Taghyeer, or this event, feel free to email Janet Penn to talk.
UPDATE!!
Ali will be joining via Zoom, instead of in-person.
Ali has experienced multiple frustrating delays with his visa for travel to the U.S. As a result, regrettably, he will not appear in person tomorrow evening at Temple Sinai. He has agreed, however, to Zoom with us from his home in Palestine at the original time of 7:30 pm ET.
As a result, we and our co-sponsors,Temple Sinai of Brookline, Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, Hillel B'nai Torah, Temple B'nai Brith of Somerville and Boston Workers Circle will host a hybrid event as planned tomorrow evening from 7:30 to 8:45pm.
Those who wish to join together in-person for a group viewing and after-discussion of Ali's talk are warmly welcome to do so. We thank Rabbi Andy Vogel once again for hosting us on site at Temple Sinai, 50 Sewall Ave, Brookline, MA.
Virtual attendees: here is the link to register virtually. You will receive the Zoom link after you register.
We hope to see many of you tomorrow evening--and perhaps in Washington D.C. December 3rd through 5th for the J Street National Conference. (Ali is scheduled as a conference speaker and we sincerely hope that he'll be permitted to attend.) You can register virtually or in-person for the National Conference at this link.
