On Shabbat afternoon, join Molly for a Songs of the Sea and Skills for Collective Singing workshop as we review and learn skills for creating powerful moments of community song and sing our way through Shirat HaYam using several contemporary tunes to accompany different parts of this powerful and celebrated text. We can't wait to daven with Molly and to sing together!
Molly Bajgot (she/her) is a queer Jewish song and ritual leader living on Nipmuc & Pocumtuc land in Easthampton, MA. As a singer-songwriter, Molly writes songs of hope and original melodies to enliven Jewish liturgy. Her music comes from places of pain, joy, grief, and a commitment to life and beauty. Molly leads music, prayer, and life cycle rituals locally and nationally with a commitment to collective liberation and healing. We all have to die, so let's discuss how to do it well! This four-session course will explore practical and emotional aspects of preparing to have a dignified death. Topics will include unfinished business, how to talk to loved ones, forgiveness, what we can learn from illness and death; the impact of a good death on those we leave behind. There will be some readings and some writing in and out of class. -
