Approximate timing
9:45am-10:05am: Morning songs and blessings – wake up your spirit with song! We will start promptly at 9:45am with morning blessing tai chi, followed by Pesukei D’Zimra (Psalm songs); feel free to log on a few minutes early.
10:05am-11:00am: Shaharit service - As is our custom, we will incorporate the special prayers for Rosh Hashanah into our morning service, including Unetaneh Tokef and special meditations and music for Malchuyot-Zichronot-Shofarot. Because it is Shabbat, there will be no blowing of the shofar (that’s on Day Two!). We’ll close the morning service with words from CDT President Bob Warren, as he shares his Jewish Journey and his vision for the congregation in the coming year.
11:00am-12:00pm Torah service & Closing Prayers – We will hear the traditional first day Torah reading from the book of Genesis. There will be special, virtual aliyot for families who have welcomed a child this year, young people who have become bnei mitzvah, new CDT members, and more! Rabbi Toba will give a talk following the Torah reading, and we will close the service with Mourners Kaddish and a final song.
12:00-12:30pm Virtual Kiddush – All are welcome to stay and shmooze in a small group break-out chat.
♦ 9:00-9:30am - Tot Service - Families with children aged 2-5 are invited to celebrate the birthday of the world with CDT’s Director of Congregational Learning Earnest Vener and CDT member and songleader Ora Gladstone! We will celebrate the creation of the world and this new year with songs, stories, and movement. Grown-ups encouraged to be present with your little ones!
