The CDT Film Club gathers monthly on Zoom to discuss moving and thought-provoking Jewish films from around the world! No commitment is necessary — feel free drop in only once or come every time!

Please join us for a discussion of Three Minutes and Uncle Chatzkel. Watch the film on your own any time before the discussion. Contact filmclub@dorsheitzedek.org with questions, film suggestions, if you’d like to lead the discussion about a particular film, or to be put on our mailing list.

Three Minutes: A Lengthening (1 hr 11 min, 2022): A snippet of 16mm film offers an emotionally charged, meditative glimpse into the lives of the unsuspecting Jewish citizens of a small Polish village at the precipice of World War II. The three
minutes of footage, mostly in color, are the only moving images left of the Jewish inhabitants of Nasielsk before the Holocaust. The existing three minutes are examined to unravel the human stories hidden in the celluloid.
Uncle Chatzkel (52 min, 2000): A personal documentary about Rod Freedman’s 93 year old great uncle in Lithuania, Uncle Chatzkel
portrays the patient triumph of one man’s dignity and intellect over genocide, oppression and personal tragedy.
