Purim 5783

Monday evening, March 6, we celebrate Queen Esther and Mordechai’s victory over the evil Haman, antisemitic advisor to the King. (The rabbis say that after the Messiah comes, the only holiday left to celebrate will be Purim!) On Purim we celebrate with costumes, food and drink, sending each other delicious treats, the Megillah reading, caring for the needy, and a little dancing. Plus, of course, the spiel!  Read on for a Purim learning opportunity and our first in-person Purim bash since 2020 (including livestream).

Do you have a costume and/or accessories in need of a new, loving home? Bring them to the spiel to donate to the CDT community!

Rav Tiffany says: it’s time to party in person! Adults and kids of all ages are invited to enjoy Purim davvening with Rav Tiffany, megillah reading, the Purim spiel, and dancing! Don’t miss it! Tell your friends! This event will be in person (and hopefully livestreamed, stay tuned for details!). We ask that everyone be Covid-masked as well as Purim-masked for the first part of the evening; mask optional when we break out the hamentaschen.

Show off your costume creativity by dressing as your silliest, most liberated self! There will be kid and adult prizes for everyone in the costume parade. Note: Those wearing appropriative costumes will be asked to change. Cultural appropriation often takes the form of dressing up as an ethnicity, race, or culture that is not your own. Not sure about your costume? Ask us!
