IRA Rollover
IRA Charitable Rollovers - Qualified Charitable Distributions
You may be eligible to minimize your tax liability and maximize the value and impact of your gift to CDT from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). We must receive your gift by December 31 for your donation to qualify this year.
Individuals 70½ and older can make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD), also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers. A maximum of $100,000 per year can be counted as a QCD when transferred directly from an IRA to a qualified charitable organization such as CDT.
Beginning the year you turn 72, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
How to Make Your Gift
- Contact your IRA plan administrator and/or professional advisor beforehand to ensure that your gift will qualify for tax-free treatment. Ask for their specific transmittal form or download this sample qualified charitable distribution letter to request a gift transfer from your IRA to CDT.
- On the form, specify the amount to be transferred to Congregation Dorshei Tzedek.
- Include CDT’s tax ID number: 27-3966523.
- Make checks from your IRA payable to Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, and send to:
Congregation Dorshei Tzedek
60 Highland Street
West Newton, MA 02465
NOTE: Transfers of IRA gifts to donor advised funds, supporting organizations, charitable gift annuities, private family foundations, or charitable remainder trusts do not qualify for the exemption. The gift is not eligible for an additional charitable income tax deduction but is not counted as income.
