Join us for Shabbat morning services and a Torah discussion dedicated to HIAS’s nationwide Refugee Shabbat. As we close the book of Exodus and its many reminders to not oppress the stranger, we will be recognizing the work we do at CDT to welcome the “stranger,” the immigrants and asylum seekers in our midst. We will learn about HIAS–formerly the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, providing vital services to refugees, asylum seekers and displaced persons for 120 years–its origin and its mission today. We will also hear personal reflections from CDT members about ways we have supported our Afghan friends, and how we are engaging in the larger, more complicated effort to protect the immigrant communities in all of our neighborhoods.  We will also be remembering CDT member Marvin Brotman, on the occasion of his yahrzeit. Kiddush lunch follows services.
