Afghan Family Resettlement

Many Afghans had to flee their country on short notice and are now arriving in the Boston area. The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and Catholic Charities are working with area mosques, churches, and synagogues to support a resettlement effort.

CDT has come forward to help the resettlement of an Afghan family. We have organized a Leadership Team that is busily planning the inital support needs for a family to relocate in our area. This includes identifying housing and needed furniture, creating a source of initial financial support and supporting volunteers to help this family make a transition to a new life in the Boston area.

As the details of this effort evolve over the next weeks and months, we will us this website to keep you informed, to describe family needs, and to ask for your help.

Grounded in our Reconstructing Judaism values, we hope this effort will both help a group of humans as they restart a life in a strange land, and will remind us why we choose to become part of an evolving Jewish community with many shared values.
